Philosophy
of religion professor, Eric Reitan, found two contrasting narratives about the
beginning of the universe and human life: (1) "History of Everything"
by Robin Parry is a Christian story; and (2) "Cosmos: The History of Life
by Carl Sagan" is a naturalist story. Reitan invited us to see the
difference in the presentation of these two accounts, not only in voice
(adolescent vs adult, baritone voice), and in storytelling style (marker
drawing vs photo/video presentation), but in their perspectives (Christian
story vs naturalist story of the origins of our world and the evolution of
